This is our dark horse coffee and it has been a part of our line up since 2017! It is grown in the northern Andes Mountain Range, right on the equator at an ideal 1600 meters. Although the equator runs through hundreds of places, Ecuador takes particular pride in its unique geographical location. In fact, the Republic of Ecuador literally translates to "Republic of the Equator." Alambi is located near the cloud forests, which cover the slopes of the Andes mountains. These rare forests occur within tropical or subtropical mountainous environments, where the atmospheric conditions allow for a consistent cover of clouds. The forests there are teeming with biodiversity and a variety of wildlife and plants. The environment is cool and humid with frequent canopy level cloud cover. This coupled with the shade trees allows these coffee plants to mature slowly and develop a complex flavor profile. Alambi is produced by a cooperative of 6 farmers who combined produce around 500 sacks of this washed process coffee each year. It's a fantastic cup with character and quality - medium bodied, sweet, and velvety with a pleasant lingering finish.
