We welcome back the new harvest of Sierra Norte, a classic Dark Roast that hails directly from Santo Domingo, Cacalotepec in Northern Oaxaca. It seems that with each passing harvest the coffees we source from Oaxaca continue to get better and better! This year's Oaxacan coffees have been incredible;first, Mazateca and now, Sierra Norte!
We source this coffee in partnership with the Red Beetle Coffee Lab. This is a community coffee produced by 13 small scale producers (usually only producing about 3 sacks of coffee each year). The village of Santo Domingo is very remote, in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca where they speak the indigenous language of Zapotec. The vibe in Santo Domingo Cacalotepec is community & there is a harmonious energy amongst the people there.
This is a coffee we think most everyone will really appreciate. A wonderful toasty aroma followed by a taste profile of dark chocolate and toasty graham crackers, low acidity, and a full bodied finish. This is a coffee that most folks will love waking up to, a classic morning cup!
